Christmas social media posts for your business

Christmas is the biggest gifting and dining moment of the European year, and it is won in the run-up. By mid-December customers want to know two things: can it arrive in time, and are you open.

UniPostudio puts the whole season on your calendar, from Black Friday and First Advent to New Year’s Eve, with each country’s own days such as Sinterklaas or Second Christmas Day, and a reminder before each.

Plan the run-up from late November

  • Mid-November: Black Friday offer, and in the Netherlands and Belgium the Sinterklaas gift range.
  • Late November: First Advent opens Christmas markets in Germany; post your seasonal range and Advent offers.
  • Early December: gift guides, gift cards, and the last order date for delivery before Christmas.
  • Mid-December: a reminder of the order cut-off; this is when late shoppers decide.
  • Christmas Eve: hours and last collection times. Many shops close early.
  • Between the holidays: opening days, Boxing Day sales in the UK and Ireland, and New Year’s Eve bookings.

Christmas Eve hours and order cut-offs

The most useful Christmas post is not a greeting. It is the date by which an order must be placed, and the hours you are open on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December. Put them on a story-size poster for Instagram and a square for Facebook, and post an Update on Google Business Profile so Search and Maps show it.

In the Netherlands and Germany, 26 December is Second Christmas Day (Tweede Kerstdag, 2. Weihnachtstag), a second day off; restaurants that open are full. In the UK it is Boxing Day, the biggest bargain hunt of the year.

Christmas post ideas by business

  • Restaurants: Christmas menus, group bookings and New Year’s Eve, with a Google post using the Book button.
  • Shops and web shops: gift guides, gift cards and the delivery cut-off, with the order deadline in the caption.
  • Bakeries: Stollen, kerststol or bûche orders with collection days.
  • Salons: party-season appointments before the holidays.
  • Services: holiday closing dates and when you reopen.

In mid-November, with Black Friday. UniPostudio suggests posting about Christmas Day itself from 11 December, 14 days before, and sends a reminder.

Your hours and last collection or order times, and a short greeting. Post the cut-off for delivery a week or more before.

Does the calendar know Second Christmas Day and Sinterklaas?

Yes. Second Christmas Day shows for the Netherlands and Germany, Boxing Day for the UK, Sinterklaas for the Netherlands and Belgium, and First Advent for Germany.

How much does it cost in euro?

Classic is €9 a month, Pro €29 and Agency €49, through Paddle, which adds VAT where it applies. Occasion posters are unlimited on all three. See pricing.

Can I schedule all my Christmas posts at once?

Yes. Schedule them in the composer, see them on the month or week view, and drag one to a new day if plans change. You can also import a month of posts from a spreadsheet.
